Prayer for February 2nd

Hello, Friends! Here is the prayer for today…

Dear Lord,

You know where we are at… you see us when we struggle to get through our days. We have read how the Apostle Paul during his time in Asia, despaired of life because of his affliction and distress. We read in the Psalms of King David’s joy, as well as the depths of his anguish and pain. Thank you Lord, for allowing us to know that these great men of faith also dealt with despair and difficult emotions during hardships.

Many people try to make us feel like there is something wrong with us, or our faith, if we admit that we are not in a good place or that we are struggling emotionally or mentally. Many people would have us believe that Christians should not ever feel sad…but we are human and you created all emotions, knowing that we would experience them all. To say that we should not feel pain and sorrow, is to deny who you created us to be…even Jesus experienced anxiety, anguish, and sorrow…you told us there is a time and a season to mourn, to rejoice, a time to laugh and to cry…there is a reason and a purpose for everything we experience and we know the greater the struggle, the more glorious the triumph when we overcome!

Your word clearly shows that those who served you and followed you, dealt with much adversity … their lives were hard. You told us that if we followed you, we would share in Christ’s sufferings… your word doesn’t attempt to sugar coat anything. Those who loved you, grew weary and were full of despair at times. BUT, they also knew that what you allowed into their lives was for their good. They knew that through the pain and adversity, they would see your hand move… that they would learn more of you and come to know you in new ways. They knew that you would work everything for good, because they were called for your purpose… and they recognized that they would be able to look back and see the fruit that came from the testing of their faith and because of that, they would be able to “count it all joy” when they met various trials. Your followers didn’t stay in a pit of despair, they kept their eyes firmly fixed on the author and finisher of their faith. They saw their faith strengthened, and they found your Word was true and that you were a faithful deliverer.

Lord, no matter what we are doing…whether we are cleaning toilets, residing in a hospital bed, taking care of kids, preparing a sermon, searching for a job, or struggling just to make it through the day…you want us to serve you, cling to you, look to you and find hope in you… right where we are at. We are to do everything as unto you and give everything to you. We seek to please you… to love you, to bring glory and honor to you in the midst of pain, in the midst of loss, in the midst of uncertainty and struggles. We know that a day spent serving you, no matter what our circumstances… is better than 1,000 pain-free days serving ourselves. You are the God who is The Source of every comfort, consolation and encouragement. You comfort us in every trouble and affliction, so we can comfort others who we come upon who also are in distress and trouble.Thank you for going before us and standing beside us in all that we face, Lord. We thank you and praise you. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen

May you feel His nearness today friends!

Much love in Him,
Debbie
