Prayer for April 21st

April 21, 2014

Hello, Friends! I’m feeling led to re-post this prayer today…So, many times after we have really focused our thoughts and attention on things of the Lord like we do during Easter week, the enemy comes after us trying to make us lose our joy and peace. He doesn’t like that so many people are focused on the Lord and on His power and might. He wants to discourage us and deflect us from remembering the glory of Easter is Christ’s victory and His defeat…this prayer is a helpful reminder to be ready for his attacks and to keep the joyful, empowering  thoughts about the Lord’s resurrection burning in your heart!

Our Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for this new day and this new week. As we start this day, Lord, may we be reminded to put on our spiritual armor so we might defend ourselves well against anything we come up against. Lord, it is not a suggestion, but a commandment to us, to put on our  armor… but we often forget until we are in the midst of a battle that we feel ill-equipped for. Father, stir our hearts and memories, so we will remember before our feet even hit the floor in the morning, to start the day with you and to prepare ourselves for all that lies ahead that day by putting on our spiritual armor. Help that visualization, to become as natural to us as brushing our teeth and eating each day.

Help us to stand firm in the truth of Your Word, which is the Girdle of Truth…it supports our core…it helps us stand strong and upright… it strengthens us so we won’t believe the enemy’s lies… may we learn to meditate on Your Word day and night so we might find your peace as we think on things that are true, Holy and pure.

As we put on the Breastplate of Righteousness, may it guard our hearts and keep them pure…may our hearts long for things that are Holy and true and keep us close to you. May we remember that our hearts are Christ’s home and that our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. May we take protecting these things seriously.

As we put on the Shoes of Peace, may we stand strong in the good news that Jesus brings…may people see Your light in us…may they see Your eyes of love looking through us…may they see Your strength in us when we face adversity…may they see that we do not grieve as those who have no hope…may they see that You are, our peace in the storms of life…may they see through our witness, something different in us that draws them closer to you.

Lord, as we take up the Shield of Faith, may we find courage as it equips us to withstand the fiery darts of doubt, confusion discouragement, hopelessness, deceit, anxiety, despair and fear that the enemy constantly tries to use against us. Help us to remember that you have gone before us, the battle is won…you have defeated Him… so often we do not live this truth…help us to claim the victory that is ours and help us to stand strong, to not give up or retreat, but to defend ourselves against his weapons of war.

Lord, as we put on the Helmet of Salvation, let us visually see in our mind a helmet that protects us from unwanted thoughts…from things that distract us …from sins that beset us… from memories that hold us back…from worries of things that might not even happen…help us picture that helmet being a barrier between us and the things of the world that would take our eyes and mind off of you.

And Lord, as we take up the Sword of the Spirit… may Your Words, which are likened unto a two-edged sword, cut down the Goliath’s in our lives…may we visual that nothing we will ever face is bigger, stronger or powerful than you…and may we remember that the same power that raised Jesus from the dead, lives in us today and everyday. Lord, may we walk in the victory that is ours today…not because of who we are, but because of WHO YOU ARE! It’s not by our might, not by our power, but by Your Spirit, that we shall overcome… because greater are You that is in us, than he that is in the world.

Lord, you told us there would be trials and tribulations in this world, but to not be afraid, because you have overcome the world. God you have given us the greatest “pep-talks” in your word. You have not left us defenseless…you have not left us powerless…you have not left our side…and if we only have the faith the size of a mustard seed, we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. May these words of truth fill us with hope, strength and joy as we go out to face this week. Thank you, Lord for who You are and for all you do in our lives! In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

May you walk in His victory this week friends!

In His love,
