Prayer for April 22nd

April 22, 2014

Hello, Friends! Here is the prayer for today…

Dear Lord,

As we go through life with its ups and downs, hurts and losses…sometimes we need to take a step back and focus on the basics of our faith… to renew us and to put the events of our lives into the proper perspective. Today, we remember the words you said on the cross, “It is Finished.” Three small words, but they should have an incredible impact on our lives every day. Because of what you did…

We can be set free from the curse of sin and death…
We can be set free from worry…
We can be set free from the uncertainty of what awaits after death…
We are able to grieve, yet have hope…
We can be set free from the fear of being taken from the shelter and safety that you provide…
We can be set free from guilt, fear and anxiety…
We don’t have to go through life alone…
We can be set free from carrying burdens too heavy for us to bear…

Lord, your death meant victory for us. Help us to live in that victory today. We may face adversity, but we know the final outcome is settled and we are victors. We may face loss of loved ones…but it is temporary. We may face hunger or homelessness, but because of what Christ finished on the cross we know there is coming a day when we will never thirst or hunger again and we will live in a place of unspeakable beauty that none of us can even begin to imagine, in bodies that will be incorruptible. There will be no more wars, heartache, evil, famine, disasters, suffering, sin or death. The old things will pass away and everything will be as you always intended it to be.

Oh, Lord, you defeated the enemy when you rose again, but so often we do not walk in that victory. We act defeated in our lives, because we gaze too long and often at these temporary difficulties and take our eyes from you. Help us Lord, to rise above the cares, worries and pain of this life. Help us to think of the cross and the empty tomb today and be filled with joy and strength. There is nothing that we will face that cannot be overcome through Christ. Give us a perspective that rises above the temporary to the eternal today. Help us to stand confidently and courageously in the victory and peace that comes through you, Lord. In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.

May His joy be your strength today!

In His love,
