Prayer for June 11th

June 11, 2014

Red Sea

Hello, Friends! Here is the prayer for today…

Dear Lord…

We all find ourselves at one time or another, wishing we could go back to the way things used to be… we long for times when our loved ones were still with us…when our family was still in tact…when we weren’t struggling financially…when we didn’t have health problems…we long for times when life seemed easier and more care free.

It is a strange thing, but often our memories are faulty…we remember the things we should forget and forget the things we should remember. Our memories can get distorted. People have always been that way. We read about the children of Israel as they stood at the Red Sea with the Egyptians close behind. They had just witnessed the plagues that had attacked the Egyptians…. the lives of  their children were spared at the Passover. They saw Lord, how you revealed yourself in a pillar of cloud to lead them by day and a pillar of fire to lead them by night and yet they questioned Moses as they stood at the Red Sea… they questioned you… At that moment, they forgot all the miracles that you did as you fulfilled your promises  to care for them and deliver them. Their fear hijacked their memories and led them to say they had been better off while being slaves to the Egyptians. They looked at the water in front of them and the enemy closing in behind them and they forgot that you are the God of the impossible.

On one hand, Lord, it’s hard to believe that people could so quickly and easily forget the miracles they had just seen… but being human, we know that it could just as  easily have been us to complain…it could have  been us that lacked the faith to believe you would continue to follow through on your promises. We could easily have forgotten and said, “Where is God now? How is He going to deliver us now…there’s no way out”. You didn’t get mad at them or disappear when they forgot all that you had done. You don’t disappear when your children are ungrateful, unappreciative or unbelieving… it’s not because of who we are, Lord. It’s because of who you are! You stand on your promises even when we let you down…even when we forget all that you’ve done for us…even when we doubt that you will deliver us when we are standing in front of our own “Red Seas”…you always remain faithful and true to your word. Forgive us, Lord, when we doubt you…when we complain…when we question you and your ways. May we learn to be patient and trusting children that lean not on our own understanding. May we have confidence that anything that you allow into our lives is for our good and your glory. May we find peaceful rest when we are confronted with difficult circumstances, knowing that you never fail or go back on your promises to take care of us.

Lord, we ask for your strength to sustain us today. That’s all we need…just enough to see us through this day. We know that you are with us and you are the God of miracles.  We may fail, but you never do and we praise you for who You are, Lord and all you do for us. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
Blessings be upon you all!

Blessings be upon you friends!

In His love,
Debbie
