Prayer for August 20th

August 20, 2014

hope

Hello, Friends! Here is the prayer for today…

Dear Lord,
With each passing day, there is something going on in the news that makes us shake our heads in disbelief. Common sense seems to be in short supply. Our world is changing so rapidly and it can be disturbing and frightening. We know one of the only true constants in this world is change…but things seem to be declining at an unprecedented rate. It’s like the ground beneath us is shifting sand. Lord, thank you, for being our stability. You alone are our firm foundation and the solid rock on which we stand and place our faith, hope and trust.

Help us to not become disillusioned…help us not to become angry, cynical, bitter people. Help us to show Christ like compassion and concern to those who are clearly in need of help and guidance. Let us be known for our Christ-like love, even when we have righteous anger…let us be known as voices of reason, in a world that has lost its way. Put a burning desire in our hearts to pray for those in authority…whether that be the administrators and teachers who oversee the children in schools, or those that are in government and leadership positions.

Leaders may not always respond to complaints…or even acknowledge the concerns of the people they are supposed to serve… often we feel voiceless and powerless in our circumstances… but you see and hear, Lord and what we can’t do, you can. Only you Lord, can truly change hearts, minds and lives. Help us to turn our “worry time” to “prayer time.” That is the one thing we can do that is never a waste of time, is always effective and can bring about real change… You are the one thing that evil is  always powerless against.

Help us to keep our focus on the things that really matter in this life, Lord. You have shown us in your word of the things to come. Nothing should take us by surprise.   Help us to do the best we can with each day and  not waste what precious time we have. Let us be about doing Kingdom work and trying to point the way to you.

Most importantly Lord, help us to keep our eyes firmly planted on you, no matter what is happening around us or to us. Please go before us this day. In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.

Blessings be upon you all!
In Him,
Debbie Kay
