Prayer for September 21st

September 21, 2014

hope for the broken hearted

Hello, Friends! I”m feeling like that there are people who need this prayer today, so I’m re-posting…

Dear Lord,

As we come together today, there are many that are facing a defining, “Peter” moment in their walks with you. Many are in the midst of storm laden seas. Some are being battered and bruised by unrelenting trials, others are being overtaken by grief that keeps them just “holding on”. They are afraid of what the future holds…unsure of how they are going survive the beating they are taking…they can’t see the shore or calm seas from where they are at and they don’t feel like they can hold on any longer. Fear and anxiety grip their hearts and no matter how much they pray, they keep ending up in the same place with their vision impaired, their stomach in knots, feeling like they are going under and not going to make it  and they are losing hope…

Lord, the story of Peter walking on the water to you, was one of the greatest visual lessons we’ve been given on how to deal with trials and traumas that come into our lives. Peter had great faith at the moment he asked to come to you…he knew the waves were turbulent …Peter knew what he was asking was humanly impossible…but He had learned first hand, that what is impossible with men, is possible with you. Peter knew you were his protector…he knew you would not let anything happen to him…Peter knew that even the winds and waves must obey you…so he took that step of faith…and he did what no other man had done…he followed your example and he walked on the water. Peter did what he could not do with his own strength or power by keeping focused on you…he experienced first hand what the song says,… “the things of earth grow strangely dim, in the light of your glory and grace”. He forgot where he was. He forgot what was happening around him. He forgot his fear. He  felt your perfect peace in the midst of a turbulent storm…until he took his eyes from you and  then, fear engulfed him …he started to sink and panic…he forgot what he had done only seconds before through your power and strength.

Lord,  many are standing at the side of a figurative boat now and you have your hand extended…you are saying to them, “trust me”… You want to show them great and marvelous things that they can’t imagine…you want to show your power in their weakness and show yourself as the God of the impossible in their lives…to show that you have control of everything and nothing is impossible through you.

Lord, may each person who is at that place find your courage to step out of their boats…may they take that huge step of faith that will allow them to know you in ways they have never known before…may they find your peace and your comfort as they focus on you and not the storms around them. May they overcome their fears with faith and find safety and rest in your arms as you protect, them and guide them to still waters.

You have so many blessings in store for us…so much you want to teach us and so much you want to help us overcome. Lord, we long to be set free…help our faith, Lord, so we might receive all you have for us. Please go before us this week, Lord, and help us overcome through you. In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.

Praying that you will experience His power and grace like never before!

In His love,
Debbie
