Prayer For December 7th

December 7, 2014

Hello, Friends! Here is today’ prayer…

Dear Lord,

Your word tells us that you give us endurance and encouragement and surely there are people praying with us who need to receive those things from you.

The Bible says that the things written in your Word are for our encouragement and to teach us by example. Your followers knew about hardship. They knew what it was like to have adversity as their constant companion. They endured beatings, floggings, being stoned and shipwrecked. They were falsely accused, rejected, despised and thrown into prison. They knew what it was like to be in physical pain… they knew what it felt like to be hungry, thirsty, persecuted, exhausted, and to even despair of life. Yet, they did more than just survive all they endured. Their times of discouragement did not overwhelm them or side track them from their mission or draw them away from you…the more adversity they faced, the closer they became to you and the more they were made like you. We know they had great faith, Lord and you honored that faith… and you were their strength…your joy was their strength…the thought of being with you again…gave them hope and courage. Only through experience, could they learn to be content in all things… they could not have endured all they faced… let alone rejoice in the midst of such hardships, if they did not receive encouragement from you.

Lord, you send encouragement in many ways. Sometimes it’s through other people and the things they say or do. Sometimes it’s through a scripture that speaks to our hearts, or a well placed word that jumps out at us somewhere. Sometimes it’s through music or perhaps even a post on social media. Lord, we are asking for your encouragement today. Help us to be aware and mindful so we don’t miss the signs you send us. We don’t want to just keep going through life in survival mode…just limping along from one problem or crisis to another. We want to experience your encouragement and run the race before us with endurance…we want to drink from your Living Water so we will never become dry. Help us not to grow weary in well-doing. Help us to thrive and grow spiritually in the midst of adversity.

Strengthen our hearts  that we might be more than over-comers. Help us to remember that your joy is our strength. Please impart to us your gifts that enable us to sing your praises in the dark valleys and to rejoice in all things. Lord, on our own we can’t do these things, but with your encouragement, help and strength we can. We wait eagerly to receive from you now and we offer up a sacrifice of praise for who you are and all that you have done. With gratitude, we ask these things in the name of Jesus. Amen

May you be overcome with His joy today!

You are not alone and you are so loved!
Debbie
