Prayer For December 18th

December 18, 2014

Hello, Friends! Here is the prayer for today…

Dear Heavenly Father,

We thank you for the gift of our Savior. We are living in troubling times, but things were dark even when Christ was born. There was corruption and evil then. Herod killed thousands and thousands of innocent babies out of jealousy and  to try to prevent Jesus from becoming the King of Kings. Jesus,  entered this world in the midst of great mourning and grief over the loss of so many children that were killed, but He also entered the world as a sign of hope and redemption and promise of better things to come…our Messiah…our Deliverer …Our Prince of Peace and Our Redeemer is still the hope that we look to and cling to today. We look up to you with anticipation, because we know our redemption is drawing near!

Lord, we will never have the answers that so many seek. Every day there are people asking the age-old question, “Why does God allow suffering and bad things to happen…doesn’t He care?  Where is He?”… We know you did not create evil, Lord…you created free will and evil men make evil choices. One day we will be set free from all this pain and darkness and though we don’t see everything clearly now…there is one thing that can be seen clearly for those who have eyes to see… and that is your truth and your love… you loved the world so much that you gave your son…born in a manger so long ago…born to live, suffer and die… to carry our sins and our pain…to pay a price that we couldn’t, so that if we believe, we might have eternal life…that is the truth we cling to today…that is the light that shines brightly in the darkness…the hope that drove the wise men to follow a bright and shining star in the east to find a babe in a manger…a baby who was born a “wanted and hunted man” by evil men…a baby who grew into a man who was well acquainted with grief and pain… because of Jesus  and all that He endured and promised,we have this blessed hope and assurance  that one day He will wipe away every tear from our eyes and we will hear the words…”No more, it is finished…no more pain, no more death, no more poverty, no more sickness, no more disease…no more evil and no more tears!”

Thank you, Lord for giving us a Savior who  as your Word says, counted His suffering and all the hostility He faced as joy, so we would not lose heart or grow weary. We lift all those who are in  pain, and trying to cope with loss, questions, and uncertainty. Oh, Jesus, may the hurting find you in the darkness and cling to you as their hope. In your name of the Jesus, our beloved Savior, we ask these things, Amen.

May you feel the Lord’s nearness today!

Much love in Him,
