Prayer For March 17th

March 17, 2016

St. Patrick's Day prayer

Hello, Friends! Here is the prayer for today…

Our Father,

As we think about this day, may we remember the spiritual things St. Patrick’s Day represents…this day celebrates how you redeem the things the enemy meant for harm…it is a reminder that one person who is committed to you, truly can change the world.

When Patrick was kidnapped and sold into slavery, he could have become angry and bitter, but he turned to you and found you in the midst of his suffering and servitude. He used his time in captivity to fellowship with you and to learn to hear your voice. When the time came, you spoke to Him and showed Him a way of escape. Most people would have fled and never looked back… but Patrick heeded your call to go back to Ireland and spread the gospel…he obeyed your command to “pray for those who persecute you” and an entire country came to know of your saving grace because he was obedient and didn’t let pain, bitterness or unforgiveness get in the way of what you called him to do.

Lord, there are so many of us who deal with things that are unfair, wrong and hurtful… help us to trust you to make things right in your time…life is unfair, but you are not… May we learn to forgive as Christ forgives us… May we allow your love to change so we can pray for those who hurt us or come against us. May we find the courage to say, “Here I am Lord, use me…let your will, not mine be done.”

Father, as people focus on the secular symbols and traditions of this holiday, may we ponder the deeper truths behind this day… may we weigh them in our heart’s and use Patrick’s example to know that healing is possible… forgiveness is possible … extraordinary things are possible, when we put our faith and trust in you.

Please draw us close to you.Thank you for how far we have come and we look forward to all you will continue to do. Help us to make the most of our day. Thank you for your grace and mercy. In the name our Savior, Jesus, we pray. Amen

May God’s blessings and favor be upon you!
Much love in Him,
Debbie Kay
