Prayer For March 17th

March 17, 2017

Hello, Friends! Here is the prayer for today…

Our Father,

As we think about this day, may we remember the spiritual things that St. Patrick’s Day represents…this day celebrates how you redeem the things the enemy meant for harm…it is a reminder that one person who is committed to you, truly can change the world.

When Patrick was kidnapped and sold into slavery as a teen, he could have become angry and bitter, but he turned to you and found you in the midst of his suffering and servitude. He used his time in captivity to fellowship with you and to learn to hear your voice.  After six years as a slave, you spoke to Him and showed Him a way to escape so he could return home. Most people would have fled and never looked back… but Patrick heeded your call to go back to Ireland and  to spread the gospel to the very people who had stolen his youth and freedom and held him captive…he obeyed your command to “pray for those who persecute you” and an entire country came to know about Jesus because he was obedient and  he didn’t let pain, bitterness or unforgiveness get in the way of what you called him to do.

Lord, there are so many of us who deal with things that are unfair, wrong and hurtful…it often seems like those who do wrong go unpunished and seem to even thrive, while their victims are left to struggle and deal with the aftermath of what’s been done to them…but you see all… you are a God of justice as well of grace, mercy and compassion. Help us to trust that in your timing,  you will make all things right. May we learn to forgive as Christ forgives us…may we show the same grace to others that you show to us. May we allow your love to change us so we can pray for our enemies and those who hurt us with a sincere heart that cares about their salvation.

Father, as people focus on the secular symbols and traditions of this holiday, may we ponder the deeper truths behind this day… may we weigh them in our heart’s and use Patrick’s example to know that healing is possible… forgiveness is possible … extraordinary things are possible, when we put our faith and trust in you. May we find the courage to say, “Here I am Lord, use me…let your will be done.”  Help us to pray big and believe that you are able to do things beyond anything we can think, dream or imagine. We thank you and praise you for being the God of all compassion, grace, mercy and redemption. We give you all glory, praise and honor and ask these things in the name our Savior, Jesus. Amen

May God’s blessings and favor be upon you friends!
Much love in Him,
Debbie Kay
