Prayer For March 17th

March 17, 2018

Hello, Friends! Here is the prayer for today…

Our Father,

On this day we call St. Patrick’s Day, many are unaware of  the spiritual things this day represents…Patrick was a man after your own heart…someone who loved Jesus and lived his life as a missionary, spreading the good news of the gospel…his life was a testament to how you redeem the things the enemy has meant for harm and work things together for good for those who love you…his life is a reminder that one person who is committed to you, truly can change the world.

When Patrick was kidnapped as a teen in England and sold into slavery in Ireland, he could have become angry and bitter and despaired of life, but he turned to you and found you in the midst of his suffering and servitude. He opened his heart to you and used his time in captivity to pray for hours on end. He learned to hear your voice and to trust you. At the time you appointed, you spoke to Him and showed Him a way of escape back to England. Most people would have fled and never looked back. But Patrick felt you calling him to go back to Ireland to spread the gospel message to the very people who enslaved him. He lived out your instructions to “pray for those who persecute you” and an entire country came to know of your saving grace because he was obedient and didn’t let pain, bitterness or unforgiveness get in the way of what you called him to do.

Lord, there are so many of us who deal with things that are unfair, wrong and hurtful… may we all find healing and courage in you. May we learn to forgive as Christ did. May we allow your love to change us so to the point that we  love with your love and pray for those who come against us. May we find the courage to say, “Here I am Lord, use me…let your will, not mine be done.”

As people focus on the secular symbols and traditions of this holiday, may we ponder the deeper truths behind this day… may we learn from Patrick’s life and legacy that healing is possible… forgiveness is possible … extraordinary things are possible when we have faith and put our trust in you.

Father, please pour your healing balm upon all who are hurting this day. Please draw us all close to you. Thank you for your grace and mercy and the restoration and redemption you offer. In the name our Savior, Jesus, we pray. Amen
May God’s blessings and favor be upon you!
Much love in Him,
Debbie Kay© Debbie Kay, Hope For The Broken Hearted
