Prayer For Dec. 17th

December 17, 2018

Hello Friends! Here is today’s prayer…

Dear Lord,

As we enter this week leading up to when we celebrate your birth, may we remember all that you did to send us a  Savior and Redeemer. May we not be caught up in busyness, but be caught up in worship…may we not be consumed by the pain of our losses, but by all that we gained on the night Jesus came…may we not be focused on all that is negative about the holidays, but be filled with wonder and joy as we think of the birth of our Savior…may we focus on your eternal, undeniable and overwhelming love for us that compelled you to send your only begotten Son so that all who believe in Him would not perish, but have everlasting life.

May we remember all the miracles that surrounded Jesus’ birth… the miracle of Elizabeth becoming pregnant  with John the Baptist when she was past childbearing age…how Elizabeth and her baby John, while still in her womb, were filled with the Holy Spirit just by hearing Mary’s greeting…they were the first to recognize Jesus as Messiah and Savior…miracles surrounded and abounded around Jesus, even while he was still in his mother’s womb…

The Shepherd’s who proclaimed Jesus’ birth were no ordinary shepherds…they cared for sacrificial lambs…they kept watch over their flocks by night so they could catch the new-born lambs and wrap them in swaddling cloths so they would not be bruised or blemished in any way…only unblemished lambs could be used for sacrifice…you made all these signs and wonders for all of us so we would know Jesus was the promised Messiah…from His birth, you made clear, He came to die that we might live…He came to be the sacrificial lamb who would atone for our sins…you made sure that all who had ears to ear and had a heart towards you, would see the symbolism throughout the many details of Jesus’ birth…

May we truly make this Christmas about you…about sharing the good news of the gospel…of sharing the hope that we have because Jesus came and died and defeated death…may your love stir within us.. please fan the flames that have grown dim…re-ignite the hearts that have grown cold or numb…may we hunger and thirst for your righteousness and drink in The Living Water that you offer freely and in abundance.

We thank you and praise you, Father. We are so grateful we are loved by you. We offer up this week to you and thank you that we can come freely to your throne of grace because of our Savior Jesus. It’s in His name we pray. Amen.

May you be filled to overflowing with His peace, love and joy!

Much love in Him,
Debbie

Thank you for sharing the video. I’d never heard that about the swaddling before.
