Prayer For Jan. 22nd

January 22, 2019

Hello Friends! Here is the daily prayer…

Dear Heavenly Father,

Some days are just so hard and frustrating. There is just so much going on where people judge and jump to conclusions before knowing all the facts…society as a whole is becoming more opinionated and angry and less willing to agree to disagree… things that seem like they should be easy to agree on, just aren’t… people can see and hear the same things and yet our perceptions and interpretations are so different. It seems daily there is more that divides us than unites us, even among believers…

Please help us not to get hung up on divisions, differences of opinions, or quarrels. Help us to have the mind of Christ and to always be looking to Him as our example in all aspects of life. Help us to have patience and compassion for others. Help us to love with your love and to show grace, mercy and kindness, even when those things aren’t shown to us. May people see you in us and be drawn to you.

Help us to see beyond any barriers people use to keep others out. Help us to be your hands and feet to those who can be rough and abrasive. You didn’t turn anyone away…help us to see beyond the rough exteriors to help nurture the gem that is inside everyone.

Along with your loving-kindness, we know we need to be discerning and aware, so we can avoid the people and  situations that will bring us down, stumble us or sidetrack us from the journey and path you intend for us. Help us to be wise stewards with our time and energy so we don’t waste any time on senseless conflicts or disputes. Please give us wisdom to know when to speak and when to stay silent… when to keep trying and when to leave things in your hands…when to help and when to use tough love…when to fight a battle and when to walk away…

Please draw us closer to you so we can hear your voice clearly above the noise and distractions of the world. May our first thoughts in the morning, and our last thought before we fall asleep, be of you. Help us to train ourselves to go to sleep thinking of good things, instead of rehashing the troublesome things that bother us, so we will sleep better and wake up in a better frame of mind.

Please be with all of our friends and family and keep them safe and meet their needs. We pray for those who don’t know you, that they will have their hearts and minds opened to see clearly who you are. Please go before us this week and pour out your comfort and grace. We give you are burdens, cares and  things that stress us and ask to exchange them for your peace. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen

Blessings be upon you friends!

Much love in Him,
Debbie

A most timely prayer, very similar to one I voiced this morning after reading the explosion of diverse and venomous opinions about the encounter between three groups near the Lincoln Memorial yesterday. I’m trying these days to disengage from what the apostle Paul called “foolish controversies” when he advised Timothy to avoid them. Lets pray and advocate for peace through Christ.
